Jobfox Top 25 Most Wanted U.S. Job Candidates: April 2008

Jobs are Out There, but so is More Competition in Softer Economy

McLean, Va. (April 1, 2008) - Employer demand for skilled professionals – especially for job candidates with sales, health care, information technology or business support expertise – remains strong, according to the new Jobfox Top 25 Most Wanted U.S. Job Candidates: April 2008 rankings released today. However, many of these job seekers can also expect to see more peer-to-peer competition for employment openings, depending on their profession’s overall supply of candidates and how the economy continues to unfold.

April’s full report includes the recent four-month rankings of candidate professions most often targeted by Jobfox’s employer customers. This month’s report also includes the top 25 professions that are attracting the greatest number of candidates during the 120-day period.

“Companies continue to hunt for highly skilled workers,” said Rob McGovern, the CEO of Jobfox (www.jobfox.com). “But how quickly job seekers are able to land new jobs often comes down to both supply and demand. Candidates must continue to differentiate themselves and use tools, such as Jobfox, to uniquely brand their skills and talents.”

Demand, for example, remains high for many professions such as Sales Representative, Accounting, Administrative Assistant, Senior Executive Assistant, Nursing and Accounting/Finance Executive. However, these professions are also attracting significant candidate competition, ranking in the top 25 of Jobfox professions with the highest number of job seekers.

Other professions – especially those requiring information technology skills – have the advantage of both high employer demand and fewer candidates with the required skills. Software Design/Development, Networking/System Administration, Testing/Quality Assurance, Technology Executive and Database Administration are all in Jobfox’s top 25 most wanted professions list for April. None of these professions appear in the rankings of the top 25 professions with the most job seekers.

“Highly-skilled technology professionals are still hard to find,” McGovern said. “Overall, despite economic concerns, companies continue to put a premium on sales, innovation and the hiring of top talent.”

About the rankings
The Jobfox Top 25 Most Wanted U.S. Job Candidates: April 2008 rankings were derived from a stratified random sample of more than 4,000 U.S. job openings from the Jobfox database during a 120-day period ending March 24, 2008. In total, Jobfox identified more than 150 distinct professions for which employers were seeking candidates during the period. Also captured in the rankings are the professions most desired by candidates, based on a stratified random sample of more than 100,000 Jobfox candidate profiles.
