Description: Job Title: Director of Marketing- Literacy Initiatives
Reports to: V.P. General Manager- Classroom Books & Literacy Initiatives
Purpose of the Job:
Develop and execute strategic marketing plans to meet revenue targets for all customer segments in the Literacy Initiatives business (RIF, ROF, First Book and Literacy Partners). Work with L.I. National Account Managers to support tactical sales plans, with particular focus on direct marketing, customer specific marketing collateral for sales and product customization. Assist department in expanding branding campaigns with strong design and product identity. Analyze market data to anticipate sales opportunities and participate in marketing positioning of Literacy Initiative products and services.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage the development and production of all L.I. marketing collateral, including Web sites, brochures, grant documents, newsletters, and direct mail
* Build L.I. awareness and sales campaigns, including email and direct mail initiatives
* Manage L.I. marketing budget and vendor relationships
* Drive communication with other divisions and create synergy in marketing and product development
* Focus on marketing and sales strategies for channel optimization to reach all audiences
* Generate L.I. special offers and membership programs for existing customers and prospective customers
* Maintain L.I. customer profile database to be used in informing the development of marketing campaigns, and sales strategies to increase revenue and market share
* Work with the VP Publisher: Read-To-Learn to select and customize new product offerings to address Literacy Initiatives customer needs
* Work with Education Group catalog team to design and create catalogs and brochures for Literacy Initiatives direct mail and sales campaigns
* Develop marketing tools and communication strategies that support field sales representatives. Provide on-site sales presentation tools targeted towards large Literacy Initiative customers (Power Point presentations, brochures, sell sheets, and price list)
* Increase Literacy Initiative presence at national and regional conventions and planning key events
* Collaborate with L.I. National Account Managers to develop customized product strategies
Requirements: Knowledge required
* Strong communication and presentation skills
* Focus on follow-through and responsiveness
* Minimum 5 years experience in Marketing
* Experience with initiating and managing strong relationships with multiple clients and internal teams
* Print and web-based marketing experience a plus
* Strong analytical skills in marketing and sales
* Strong thinking skills
* Strong organizational management skills
Other requirements
* Travel will be required and occasional weekends
* Presentation skills
* Customer focused ethic
* Bachelors degree in related discipline required
