Description: The MayaTech Corporation seeks Policy Analysts to analyze and conduct primary and complex education and/or legal policy research within our Health Policy and Legislative Analysis (HPLA) and Nano Systems Technologies Applications (NSTA) Centers.
Responsibilities: The essential duties and responsibilities of these positions include:
• Conducting primary and complex education and/or legal policy research using electronic legal research databases, the Internet, law library research, and direct contact with public officials
• Functioning as task leader on multi-task projects by assigning work; providing guidance to staff regarding work completion; creating task plans; and communicating with the client on task-related activities
• Supporting Project Managers by providing technical and/or methodological coordination, project/task activities and deliverables, guidance, and mentoring to staff at the same level or below
• Developing, refining, and clarifying new/existing protocols
• Analyzing complex policies and sets of policies
• Providing training and instruction to staff at the same level or below on how to accurately analyze complex policies
• Conducting quality assurance reviews of work performed by staff at the same level or below
• Initiating, conceptualizing, and managing the development of products, papers, presentations, and reports, and other health policy documents for project or non-project related work
• Conducting qualitative and quantitative analysis of policy information
• Designing project frameworks/conceptual approaches, data collection strategies, and data analysis strategies, as appropriate
• Directing and/or conducting background research and literature reviews for project development and analytic activities
• Directing and/or conducting primary education policy research via archival and documentary records reviews, surveys, and field-based data collection strategies
• Supporting policy evaluation and impact studies
• Contributing to business development activities including serving as the lead for proposal section development
Requirements: • 5+ years of experience and a Masters degree in education policy studies, political science, government, public policy, or a related field
• Has training in development and support of education curricula
• A working knowledge of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) requirements
• Excellent research skills and an interest in the application of science to public health policy, science education policy, and/or nanotechnology policy
• Subject areas of concentration include K-12 education, curriculum development, science and or mathematics , public and education policy, nanotechnology implications, pre-law, and/or political science
• Superior written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent time management skills
• Ability to work effectively under deadlines
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite products
