Description
Privately-owned multi-family office with $50+ billion of assets under supervision is seeking an Operational Due Diligence Analyst to join its Hedge Fund of Funds (HFOF) and Overall Advisory Services (OAS) teams. The OAS team oversees the selection of traditional, long-only investment managers. The HFOF and OAS platforms have grown to roughly $4.9 billion and are currently invested across 95 firms. The candidate will report to the Director of Hedge Fund Investments and is primarily responsible for:
 
 
Position Overview: Responsibilities:
 

    * Work alongside the Senior Operational Due Diligence Analyst in conducting operational due diligence on all hedge funds as well as the traditional long-only investment managers under consideration for inclusion in our Fifth Avenue funds of hedge funds and Overall Advisory Services (OAS) programs.
    * Coordinate, prepare for, and conduct on-site interviews with hedge fund and long-only managers, CFOs, COOs, and other operational management and personnel.
    * Review the legal documentation, annual audits, operations, compliance, and trading policies, and procedures of the hedge funds and the long-only managers prior to investment and as part of ongoing monitoring.
    * Evaluate accounting and reporting processes and controls including cash management, pricing and valuation practices, and NAV analyses.
    * Review third party service provider relationships, agreement terms and perform on-site reviews of certain providers.
    * Ensure that the Operational Due Diligence files, with respect to hedge fund managers and the traditional long-only investment managers, are complete, properly organized and kept up to date.
    * Prepare written reports and risk assessment matrices.

 
 
Job qualifications:
 

    * Bachelor’s degree required
    * MBA, CFA, CPA preferred but not required
    * Two to three years experience working in related areas of hedge fund/mutual fund accounting, audit, legal and compliance or broader back office operations (trade reconciliation, asset pricing, NAV calculation, credit agreements etc.)
    * Demonstrated ability to extract information from fund managers, analyze data provided and formulate well-documented opinions on the subjects being reviewed.
    * Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
    * Outstanding organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and work under tight deadlines at times.
    * Proven analytical skills with the ability to identify and analyze issues in a fast paced environment.
    * Good interpersonal skills.
    * Highly motivated and self-starter.
    * Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint a must.
